My sister Judy wanted to make a quilt for a colleague undergoing chemotherapy, and it needed to be a fairly geometric design - no fussiness, in dark, warm colors. So we went to Terry Atkinson's designs and settled on
Triple Treat from the book
Happy Hour. We had made a shop model of this quilt several years ago, so I knew it would go together quickly, and we settled on batiks.
With fabrics washed and ready, we got together for cutting and then laying out the three strips that make up each block. Judy chose her color/design combinations and laid out the blocks on the cutting table.
As Judy sewed, I pressed. (Notice the double teaming of the ironing boards!)

Here's a block that's been sewn and pressed. Now on to the floor for layout when all the blocks are ready.

It's a tight fit on the living room floor, but once they are in place, it's time to sew the blocks into rows and the rows into a completed top!

Now the top is ready to go to Judy Castle for machine quilting!
Finished! Bound and ready to go off to it's new owner. Here's the best news: the recipient just had a great report from the doctor after finishing this latest round of treatment!
